The
owners of this house in the Cotswolds had converted
a much smaller, rather utilitarian house into a lovely
large family house to accommodate themselves and their
three children.
Much of the work on the house had been carried out by
the couple themselves including a great deal of the
stone work and they wanted to create a garden around
the house, once again carrying out some of the work
themselves. The house is on a South facing narrow sloping
site with beech woods to the left and right. Beyond,
to the South, is a golf course, giving them some lovely
trees and shrubs to look at in the borrowed landscape.
The aim of the design was to take the eye through the
garden, down to a natural pond at the bottom of the
hill and across to the golf course. |
