Garden in Italy

Charlotte Rowe Garden Design was commissioned to design the landscape and garden for a large (seven acre) oil estate in Northern Italy. The site slopes steeply down from the house which is perched on the edge of a hilltop village and had a number of mature planting including olive trees. The design for the area close to the house includes an enclosed courtyard at the lower level with a water fountain and long benches built into the curved apron wall built to screen from view a neighbouring house below the property. Above is a dining terrace with magnificent views across the valley to the other side.

The gardens have been created on a series of terraces down to road below with new olives planted amonst the mature specimens. A new driveway and car parking area have been dug out of the land at the bottom of the site with a steep staged path taking people up to the house via the infinity edge dark blue green swimming pool and BBQ area which is cut into the hillside close to newly built undercroft of the house which has guest accommodation and a hammam and changing facilities.

Within the olive groves is a gym set above the trees and a orchards with a wide range of fruit trees. At the top of the site is a vegetable and flower garden. A water course runs right down the property, acting as an irrigation channel and ending in a fountain close to the car parking area
